BUSKER'S FESTIVAL BARCELONA

Busker’s Festival Barcelona is an international festival of street music wich convert Barcelona into the Mediterranean stand of the European circuit of Busker’s festivals.
It consolidated itself into the summer festival with the goal of spreading cultural diversity through music.

Busker’s have been playing an important role for 20 years in Europe. In cities like Ferrara (Italy) and Neuchâtel (Switzerland), the festival of street music gathers thousands of supporters from all over the world.

Barcelona, worldwide known for its rich culture - especially its street performances – add this festival of international scale to its tight agenda, already full of activities during the month of August.

In the last edition, the 4th, 16 bands from different countries participated. During those four years, multiculturality, as well of quality, in the given shows, has been emphasized. Every year a larger public is attracted, in 2008 almost 30.000 people participated, who enjoyed around 50 open-air concerts, “passing the hat around”.


Location

The festival takes place in the Barceloneta district. The main reason for this choice is not only its historical significance, but also for the enormous success we had there with the first edition. Moreover, we take into account its strategic geographic location, as well as less decisive factors: the date, a favourable weather and the natural beach crowd.


Passion for music

The Buskers Festival Barcelona wants to underline that music is an international language, where linguistic, political and religious barriers are diminished in front of the enchantment of melodies, for it facilitate connection and cultural exchange. What counts is the passion for music we share, which brings us closer together and results in cultural exchange.

Street music is a cultural expression that, in many cases, isn´t valued as it should be. The Busker´s Festival is a platform that reaches to the public with high quality performances to show and reaffirm the professional nature of street performances.

As a street festival, we aim it to be at tehe reach of the public in general. We offer performances of quality, diversified, that take you around and into the world of traditional music. On their turn, the artists show a part of their world by playing their melodies.
